About LAAGA<\/b><\/h3>

The Learning and Action Alliance for Girls\u2019 Agency (LAAGA) is more than just a project, it\u2019s a growing community of practice, made up of committed gender equality and education leaders from 18 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Together, we are working to uncover and amplify the voices of girls who are often unheard, particularly those living on the margins.<\/span><\/p>

In Nigeria, our focus is on out-of-school girls in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, and Kano State. These girls, many of whom are learning a trade, raising children, or working in the streets, hold stories of strength, resilience, and dreams yet to be fulfilled.<\/span><\/p>

Our approach is rooted in participatory, girl-centered methods, which allow the girls themselves to shape the narrative. These include: Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Community Mapping, Storytelling Interviews, Bridge Model Exercises, Thought Shower Activities\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Successes of the program\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>
  • Over 60\u00a0 girls participated in the\u00a0 study in Oyo state and Kano State\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • Stronger relationships with community leaders, who now actively support the project<\/span><\/li>
  • Participants reported feeling heard, valued, and inspired to dream again<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
