At a recent GBV awareness session, Dr. Oyeteju Odufuwa- a facilitator at the training of trainers session opened the discussion by highlighting the various forms of Gender-Based Violence and its deep-rooted effects on both individuals and communities. She explained that beyond the immediate physical harm, survivors often endure emotional trauma, economic hardship, and social stigma. Dr. Odufuwa urged society to recognize all forms of abuse and take immediate action to prevent them. Ms. ADesola Adesokan- one of the board members of YcDEI discussed the pivotal role religious bodies play in combating GBV. She emphasized that faith institutions not only have the responsibility to speak out against violence but must also provide support systems for survivors, offering them a safe space to heal and recover.In closing the session, Dr. Adefunke Ekine – the Executive Director YcDEI, enumerated practical examples of how timely intervention and psychosocial support can make a significant difference in a survivor\u2019s journey to healing. Her insights highlighted the importance of being proactive in offering help and ensuring survivors have access to the right resources.Together, we can create a society where GBV is no longer tolerated, and every survivor receive the support they deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
