The Lend a voice project stems from an initial baseline survey carried out by
Youthcare Development and Empowerment Initiative (YCDEI) as an
intervention to prevent and curb the menace of School Related Gender
Based Violence (SRGBV) in 6 selected primary schools in Ibadan.

The baseline survey was a cross country comparative study carried out in 4
countries, namely; Jamaica, Malawi, Kenya and Nigeria, to determine the
prevalence and pattern of Gender Based Violence in Primary Schools. In
Nigeria, Questionnaires were administered to 1141 pupils in 29 public
primary schools and 85 class teachers. Results from the survey showed a
high prevalence rate of 47.1% which calls for urgent intervention to prevent
and curb further spread of the subtle pandemic in primary schools.
